#TeamHaringey6 - 1st Week of March Round Up
News / 4 March
#TeamHaringey6 have had some amazing things on this week
To start the week off...
#H6 were invited to attend an Innovation Hub event at New Scotland Yard led by Commander Dr. Alison Heydari who sought input from the Black Community regarding under representation in the Metropolitan Police, it’s governing structures, distrust and poor relationship with the community, particularly young people.
Ten of our students, including teachers Annie Walcott and Assistant Principal Dean Britton attended the day event at New Scotland Yard, where the voices and opinions of our students, community leaders, officers and community organisations provided black response to questions examining why relations between the MET and Black Community are so poor, and what the MET can do to improve things.
The event was collaborative and constructive in nature, with ample time to reflect, examine and consider the complexities, themes and narratives that has resulted in the current nadir between the MET and Black community.
Our students were fearless in expressing themselves, were insightful and confident in their views and interacting with a wide variety of people. #H6Experience
We also had Dr. Victor Olisa visiting to provide an inspirational presentation to our A-Level Sociology, BTEC Uniformed Protective Services and CPL students. He discussed his journey in his career to becoming a senior police officer that served as the Borough Commander in Haringey. #DiscoverTheDifference #ThankYou #H6Experience
It was STEM careers day at Coventry University - Dagenham Campus which had a main focus on Renewable energy, Robotics and cyber Security.
Our #H6 Level 2, Applied science and Level 3, year 1 Applied science students attended were really interested in careers within robotics; through this interaction with Coventry University we have now established a bond with the university and their outreach officers as they are willing to come to #H6 to speak about other courses such as nursing. #AmazingStuff special thanks teachers #Ritu and #Hasan
Our lovely incredibly talented alumni Emile #ClassOf2019 at his very own art exhibition in crouch end, London at The Haberdashery - he also attend Chelsea College of Arts and is currently in his 3rd year; how proud are we of our #H6Alumni and so glad we are able to follow his journey. #H6Proud
#TeamHaringey6 STEM students took a trip to Lady Margaret Hall college in the university of Oxford; the students described it as amazing and informative as it gave them more of an understanding of what university life at Oxford would be.
A tour of their campus was given and our enthusiastic students we were also told by their guides about their experiences on how they got their admission while giving out useful tips on what they look for in a student and how it’s like studying and living on campus with its different opportunities and extracurricular activities as well as correcting most of our misconceptions.
As explained by #TeamHaringey6 student Chisom:
Overall, it was a truly enjoyable and insightful experience which made us reconsider possible applying to Oxford.

#TeamHaringey6 would like to take this opportunity to celebrate one of our Level 3 Professional Chef student’s recent success, in securing a job with one of London’s finest chefs. Horia was the first student selected to go on work experience with a professional contact; his tutor felt Horia would be a strong candidate to help establish a strong relationship with Tony Fleming and his London restaurant Le Pont de la Tour. And he did not disappoint; after his work experience Horia was offered a part time role with Tony at Le Pont de la Tour.
Tony Fleming is one of the capital’s highly celebrated chefs having held a Michelin star at Angler near Liverpool Street for 4 years before moving onto pastures new. Tony Fleming worked under Marco Pierre White, Pierre Koffmann, both are 3 Michelin starred chefs and Richard Neat at the Oxo Tower. #H6Proud #AmazingStuff #H6Experience
This week has been #Amazing as our students continue to #DiscoverTheDifference and enjoy the #H6Experience looking forward to next week for more learning, new activities and fun stuff as we are #MoreThanACollege
