Featured News / 19 December
Level 1 Health and Social Care students showcased remarkable dedication at The Grace Day Centre's milestone Christmas event, where they volunteered for the centre’s annual Christmas event and 40th Anniversary. Whilst there they received praise for their work and impressed dignitaries, including David Lammy and theMayor of Haringey. The students sang Christmas carols, served food to residents and provided support during meals including helping some residents to eat. This displayed profound compassion and kindness. Engaging with the elderly, our students forged meaningful connections and shared stories in this intergenerational partnership.
Their outstanding support, acknowledged on stage by the manager, played a pivotal role in making the event truly memorable. Overcoming the challenge of performing Christmas carols on stage for a large audience, exceeding 100 people, reflects their resilience and determination. This experience not only bolstered their confidence but also enhanced essential work skills such as communication and patience, pushing them beyond their comfort zones.
Joanne Blackburn, Director for Health & Social Care said "In essence, this incredible event not only placed Health and Social Care students at the heart of the community but also provided our young individuals with a meaningful opportunity to contribute and 'give back.' "
