#TeamHaringey6 - 4th week of June 2023 round up!
News / 30 June
We have two weeks to go before #TeamHaringey6 summer holidays however we are still as active as ever with activities going on within our college.
We started off with...
Our #TeamHaringey6 had a #BTEC and #ALevel VIP Taster Day on Tuesday 27th June, this day consisted of prospective learners coming in to view our college, have a taster lesson from the subject they were interested in and later on we had a meet and greet for their parents and carers to come along and have a meeting with our CEO and Principal.
The day started with interviews from 12 noon then taster sessions from 1pm - 4.30pm and parents/carers were invited from 5pm where we served refreshments and gave them a mini tour and the chance to ask their child’s prospective teachers questions about the college.
We also gave out example timetables for both BTEC and A-Level subjects, information on the travel to learn bursary that we offer, information about #H6Experience as in what extra-curricular activities are available to students and how they can go about accessing them and telling them about all students having access to a FREE SCHOOL MEAL.
There were over 100 people in attendance for both the taster sessions and the meet and greet – so looks like same time next year as this was amazing to see.
#TeamHaringey6 #CanDoWillDo #MoreThanACollege
As always we had our trusted #H6StudentAmbassadors to provide support and assistance to our new applicants. As always #H6Proud
Our Level 3, Year 2, Health and Social Care and Childcare students, completed a full day financial literacy course here at College. In partnership with specialist financial education company, Distinctive Solutions, the full day workshop aimed to prepare all of our Health and Social Care and Childcare students for their next steps both academically and in life. The workshop was a step in the right direction for our students becoming financially literate, and equipped with the skill set to handle the challenges of modern day living. Arming young people with financial skills and knowledge can avoid them facing difficult financial problems, and lead to them making positive informed decisions to benefit their personal finances.
This week all of our Level 3 Year 1 Health and Social Care students had a session delivered by the Outreach Officer (Nursing) from London Metropolitan University.
The sessions covered:
- Delving a bit deeper into nursing as a career and the values needed (e.g., the 6 C's, multidisciplinary working, nursing beyond the hospital etc.).
- How to make a successful application for a nursing degree (UCAS, relevant experience, what they should be doing now etc.).
#Interesting #H6Experience
This week we were also at Heron Hall Academy's careers fair - It was amazing to see such enthusiastic year 10's excited about their future; as they were buzzing with questions.
This week has been #Amazing as our students continue to #DiscoverTheDifference and enjoy the #H6Experience looking forward to next week for more learning, new activities and fun stuff as we are #MoreThanACollege
