#TeamHaringey6 have had some amazing things on this week...

It started with our Spring term Open Morning on Saturday...we had a presentation from our CEO and Principal and tours by our amazing Student Leadership Academy Ambassadors and then some amazing displays in the atrium area from our Curriculum Directors and CALMS who were also in attendance to support our prospective learners showing them why we are #MoreThanACollege followed by interviews #Amazing

#TeamHaringe6 A2 Physic's  students had an interesting practical on using a search coil and oscilloscope to find the effects on magnetic flux linkage of varying the angle between a search coil and magnetic field direction.

Skills gained from this practical are:

  • Correct & safe set up of specialist equipment
  • Carry out experiment with correct setting of oscilloscope, volts & division setting
  • Use appropriate analogue apparatus to record a range of measurement & angle of circular coil
  • Use of appropriate digital measurements

Our Applied Science students visited the Taylor Woodrow Ecopark this week to gain an insight into the logistics of Construction. They completed a series of activities on site and had a good time looking around the site in their PPE.

We also had 2 careers fair the first one at Mossbourne Community school; it was fantastic to see a great turn out of young learners enthusiastic about their future.

The second at #TheGroveSchool where we the Director of Entry and Foundation #AlanKunna attended gave advice and spoke with young learners, parents and carers. #CareersWeek

We also had a Detective speak to all of our Level 3 Uniform Protective Services students about his career and job role, he focused on the different skills and attributes that one would need to gain a career within that industry. #H6Experience

Our amazing #StudentLeadershipAcademy Ambassadors were on hand to support new and prospective students to the first of our subject specific open events this term -  the first one specifically in Business, ICT, Public Services and Sport #MoreThanACollege

#TeamHaringey6 celebrated International Women's Day as we support women's rights movement and this was to bring attention to other issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

The theme this year was #EmbraceEquity which is to get the world talking about 'why equal opportunities aren't enough' and as a college we #Embraced

We also had the department for work and pensions visit us in honour of International women's day as the presenter Rose-Marie’s gave us a presentation about her journey in the industry as a black female #Insightful #IWD2023

Another highlight for #TeamHaringey6 this week was the U17 boys’ basketball team - they had a quarterfinal game against Copleston sixth form college. #GreatGame very intense as we won by 80 - 79  #H6Experience

Keeping the sporting momentum buzzing The university of Essex visited #H6 and worked with our BTEC Level 3 Year 1 Sport students.

The day consisted of a University and sport presentation in the classroom during which students were informed about the various Sport related degree programmes, the career routes these lead into as well as entry requirements.

This was followed by a Simulated Altitude Practical Session in the Sports Hall where students had a training session using certain equipment to control the level of oxygen they consumed. The students really enjoyed this very engaging practical part of the day and they compared their results amongst one another.

The session after that concluded the second part of the University and Sport Presentation and the day was completed with the Training at Altitude Presentation.

It was a very fun, educational and engaging day for the Sport students and we are happy to have worked with the University of Essex.
