Drama & Theatre Studies will help you develop a variety of dramatic and theatrical skills including performing, directing and critical evaluation - alongside an understanding and appreciation of drama and theatre in a social, cultural and historical context. Plus, it enables you to sharpen your communication skills.

What will I study?

  • A group devised theatre piece.
  • Individual monologues and a class production of a modern text.
  • Analysing other performers from live theatre while thinking like a director.

How will I be assessed?

In both years of the A-Level Drama & Theatre Studies course you are assessed through:

  • Coursework (20% each)
  • A performance (40% each)
  • An exam (40% each)

Your teacher will provide ongoing feedback throughout the duration of the course.

Entry Requirements

A-Level 5 GCSE grades 9-4, with a minimum grade 6 in one GCSE Humanities subject

We also have BTEC Levels 1 - 3 in Performing Arts 

Progression routes

After this course, you can progress to university to specialise in acting, directing, stage design, theatre history, and English. In addition, many universities view students who study drama as well-rounded and confident people who possesses good communication skills.

Our teachers have extensive experience in Theatre, Performance and Staging. While working as teachers is their passion, they still work in the industry with focus on their own artistic careers. They maintain strong links with the industry in order to keep themselves up to date, as well as ensuring you have an experience which will equip you equally for higher education and work. While most of our artists progress onto Drama and Theatre Degrees and Drama related careers, some progress onto set & lighting engineering and teaching. Our students are you.
