Media has become an integral part of our lives in today’s society. Studying Creative Media will unlock your understanding of how the media influences society and creates a framework of ‘normality’ in which we all exist. It will give you the practical skills to no longer be simply a consumer of media, but a producer.
What will I study?
- The media industries and their relationship to the media we consume as an audience.
- Textual analysis of media products as well as production skills.
- Institutions, representation, and audience.

How will I be assessed?
BTEC Level 1
Assessments are carried out through assignments and coursework.
BTEC Level 2 & 3
Assessments are carried out through assignments, coursework, and two externally marked exams.
Entry requirements
| BTEC Level 1 | A few GCSE grades are 2 or below. However, you will be required to have an appropriate level of English. |
| BTEC Level 2 | Three or more GCSE grades 3 or above |
| BTEC Level 3 | Four GCSE grades 9-4, including English or Maths. Or - Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction and minimum GCSE grade 5 in English or Maths |
| A-Level | 5 GCSE grades 9-4, with a minimum grade of 6 in one GCSE Humanities subject |

They maintain strong links with the industry to keep themselves up to date, as well as ensure you have an experience that will equip you equally for higher education and work. While most of our students progress onto Media Degrees and Media related careers, some progress on Public Relations, Event Management, and teaching. Our students are you.

Progression routes
You can progress to further your studies in courses related to the media field such as media production, film studies, journalism, marketing, editing, and broadcast journalism. The analytical, theoretical, and practical skills gained give media students the foundation for a range of careers in the ever-growing media industry as well as transferrable skills suitable to other professions outside of media such as teaching, politics, and events management.
