Have you ever wondered how games are designed, and how to create your favourite computer game characters? If so, this is the course for you. You will gain all the relevant knowledge and skills to join the exciting and developing world of games and digital animation.

Entry requirements

BTEC Level 3 Either - Four GCSE grades 9-4, including a minimum grade 5 in English or Maths.
Or - Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction and a minimum GCSE grade 5 in English or Maths.

All students have a keen interest within the IT sectors, as well as enabling students to integrate any knowledge learned alongside any other fields of study.

YOUR FUTURE

The qualification has been designed in consultation with employers and will support application to entry level roles within the games industry or to further training and apprenticeships where appropriate. The focus on technical skills in the games industry allows learners to apply for roles such as:

  • Computer Games Tester
  • Communities Manager

However, the majority of jobs within this industry are at graduate level and learners are advised to apply for a degree in Games Design and Development (or related degree) to further develop their skills or apply for traineeships such as:

  • Trainee Games Designer
  • Trainee Technical Artist
  • Trainee Games Produce
