Welcome to my latest Principal’s blog.
It’s March already, and spring is in the air! It is certainly in our step at the college.
Well, we have completed our first series of new student interviews for Application Window 1.
Thank you all for your interest in our amazing college.
That interest has been such that we are having to extend the interview window, and so we are offering the opportunity for new students to be interviewed at our next and final Open Event on March 10th.
Application Window 2 opens on the 1st of March. All students applying in this window (which closes on the 31st of March) are still guaranteed a place at college, following a successful interview. Interviews for Application Window 2 take place in April.
Feedback to date form the new applicants has been superb: they have enjoyed their interview; they love the two free gifts they have been presented with.
It has been fantastic to hear that so many students are making Haringey Sixth Form College their first choice Sixth Form College, as they leave school and embark on their further education journey.
This is interest is, I believe, a reflection on our current, in some cases award-winning students. Our students achieve excellent results from entry through to A-level. We are the no 1 college for student progress for A-Level and BTEC across North London (DFE Performance Tables 2018) We are working hard in partnership with our current students to ensure that all the time we aim to surpass our current exceptional levels of progress.
We have many great partnerships that enhance the student experience, to name but a few: Tottenham Hotspur, Santander, the Civil Service, Linking London, universities locally and nationally and the same with many employers. We are also members of the Sixth Form Colleges Association and the Association of Colleges.
There isn’t room to list all our new exciting innovations, but I will mention just one. We are about to launch in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur, and Levy UK: a Professional Cookery qualification with work guaranteed at the new stadium.
We offer all our students the opportunity to develop their USP. We stretch; we challenge; we nurture and we care for our young people. We really look after them. This is not universal in all colleges but it is universal here at Haringey Sixth Form College.
