As we approach the first month of Spring, the mocks have been marked, the assessments have been completed and all of us are concentrating our energies on improving. We all make mistakes but only some of us learn from our mistakes.
Einstein said, "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." Allowing yourself to make a mistake is a good thing, when you take risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Einstein also said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Too many people just "play it safe" and as a consequence, never "move on".
Our students have begun to receive offers from universities. It is really pleasing that so many of our students are becoming successful. I am delighted that many universities are recognising the quality of the education we provide here at Haringey Sixth Form College and will thus be receiving from us such outstanding students.
During this month, I have the privilege of speaking to all of our current students about the next stages in their education or careers and what they need to do to be successful. Clearly, hard work, commitment, and the drive to understand are all essential. In all three, attitude is king. Successful people in all walks of life always work extremely hard and are aware of what needs to be done.
To once again quote Einstein: "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge" …. and remember… "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
