This week our #TeamHaringey6 Level 3 Year 2 Sport students successfully completed a 2-day coaching and skill acquisition project with Mulberry Primary School. Our learners had to plan and deliver coaching sessions in a number of sports to prepare the primary school children for a day of competition.

The competition day was also organised and officiated by our students, ensuring that the primary school children were able to practice and demonstrate the skills they had learnt from the previous coaching sessions that took place earlier in the week.

Our students rose to the challenge and were great coaches and mentors to the primary school children over the two days, demonstrating a number of key skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving and diplomacy. The experience will be used to contribute to practical assessment across a couple of their internally assessed units as well as being logged as work experience hours.

#H6 sport student Tashae commented; ‘the opportunity to showcase coaching skills we had been working on in class to primary school children was enjoyable, rewarding and educational. It was a learning experience!’
